시사주간지 뉴스위크가 최근 2008 미국 최우수 공립고교 순위 결과를 발표했다. 뉴스위크가 매년 5월 발표하는 이 자료는 미전역의 2만 8000개 공립학교들을 대상으로 했다. AP(Advanced Placement: 선행학습) 과목 수강자 수와 IB(Intl. Baccalaureate: 국제학사학위시험) 응시자 수를 올해 졸업생수로 나눈 비율을 환산해 순위를 정했다. 텍사스 공립고등학교는 상위 5%에 106개교를 기록했다. 다음은 텍사스 공립고등학교 Top Rankings 순위.
