American adds nonstop route to Orange
County
American Airlines will provide non-stop service to Santa Ana, Calif., from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport starting Wednesday, Sept. 5.
An inaugural service ceremony will begin at 7 a.m. for the first flight that will depart out of Gate 13 at 7:50 a.m., arriving at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana at 8:55 a.m. Flights will depart Santa Ana at 5:50 p.m., arriving in Austin at 10:30 p.m.
The new service will be American Airlines's fourth nonstop West Coast destination out of Austin, said Henry Joyner, senior vice president for planning at American Airlines.
Service out of Austin will be operated with 136-seat MD80 aircraft. Service out of Santa Ana's John Wayne Airport to Austin will operate 148-seat Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. Both aircrafts feature 16 first class seats.
