Sweet deal: Whole Foods coming to Sugar Land

Whole Foods Market Inc. is opening a fifth store in the Houston area.

Executives of Whole Foods Market recently signed a lease to occupy about 55,000 square feet at Lake Pointe Village, a retail center to be built in Sugar Land, the developer said Wednesday.

The center's developer is Planned Community Developers Ltd. The store is set open in the fall of 2007.

Austin-based Whole Foods (NASDAQ: WFMI) already has four stores in the Houston area and more than 180 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. It's the world's largest retailer of natural and organic foods.

Stan Creech of Stan Creech Properties represented Whole Foods Market in the lease. Bruce Frankel of represented Planned Community Developers represented the landlord.

Lake Pointe Town Center is a 190-acre, urban-style village featuring retail, office and residential components.
